Density field, environments and environmental properties of the 10k zCOSMOS galaxies

zCOSMOS is a large redshift survey (0<z<3) undertaken in the 2 squared degree COSMOS field. One of the major goals of the zCOSMOS survey is to reconstruct the environments of galaxies ranging from the 100 kpc to the 100 Mpc scale. I will present the zCOSMOS survey and some of the scientific results obtained using the current ~10000 accurate zCOSMOS redshifts out to z~1. First, I will introduce the zCOSMOS 3-d density field and the new algorithm that we have developed (ZADE).
Our approach is to use both galaxies with the spectroscopic and photometric redshifts. This allows us to probe the broader range of galaxy environments and reduce the noise in the observed over-densities. Further I will present the various properties of the 10k zCOSMOS galaxies as a function of their environment. At the end, I will discuss the possible use of the reconstructed density field to measure biasing of the galaxies with respect to the underlying matter distribution.
