Starbursts in Radio Galaxies from z=0 to z=4

I present new results on the young stellar populations in powerful radio galaxies based both on optical spectroscopy and far-IR/sub-mm photometry (including recent Spitzer data). The results provide key information about the triggering of the AGN activity in major galaxy mergers, as well as resolving the long-standing mystery of the heating mechanism for the cool dust.
