I present two new surveys and some of their results on galaxy evolution. COMBO-17 is a 17-band optical imaging survey which provides photometric redshifts of extremely high accuracy for 40,000 galaxies and 500 QSOs. GEMS is the largest HST colour mosaic and covers 1/4 of COMBO-17.

Hemos hecho un estudio sistemático del entorno de galaxias Seyfert "normales" (1 y 2), galaxias Seyfert 1 de líneas angostas, Liners y galaxias brillantes IRAS. Los resultados que encontramos no apoyan el llamado "modelo unificado". En cambio sugieren un esquema evolutivo.

El seminario será sobre el paquete IDL llamado BELLFIT que desarrollé para ajustar diversas formas de líneas en espectros. Debería interesar sobre todo los que utilizan espectros de larga rendija.

Todavía son poco conocidas las primeras etapas de la formación de sistemas estelares binarios y, particularmente, la formación de discos protoplanetarios en dichos sistemas.

Workshop on Massive Star Formation in Different Environments

Clusters of galaxies consist of various components: galaxies, dark matter, intra-cluster gas, magnetic fields etc. Interaction of the different component yields important information on physical quantities like e.g. the pressure, the energy or the strength of the magnetic field.

Para la mayoría de los astrónomos, la extinción es simplemente una molesta complicación que se intenta eliminar en una línea de la introducción a los artículos con frases del estilo: "Aplicamos la corrección correspondiente a E(B-V)=0.12".

Los condensados de Bose-Einstein nos ofrecen la posibilidad de simular en ciertos regímenes una teoría de campos sobre un espacio-tiempo curvo. En particular, en esta charla discutiremos diferentes formas realistas de reproducir geometrías del tipo Friedman-Robertson-Walker en estos sistemas.

Las estrellas de tipo solar (con masa muy parecida a la del Sol) muestran, en las útimas etapas de su formación, una variabilidad relacionada con la actividad de tipo mágnetico.

Central stars of planetary nebulae and Wolf-Rayet stars have energetic fast stellar winds, with velocities easily >1,000 km/s. These winds sweep up the material around the star ejected in previous phases of the stellar evolution and blow circumstellar bubbles.

We present a study of the stellar population in Low Luminosity Active Galactic Nuclei (LLAGN). Our goal is to search for spectroscopic signatures of young and intermediate age stars, and to investigate their relationship with the ionization mechanism in LLAGN.
