Did Low Mass Stars Form from Primordial Gas?

I review theoretical arguments which suggest only high mass stars can form from primordial gas. But low-mass extremely metal poor stars do exist and so the question of whether they formed from primordial gas, and later accreted their metals from the interstellar medium, does arise. My talk concentrates on the molecular ions H3+ and HeH+, their role as electron donors and ongoing work to study the consequences for stellar evolution and star formation.
