Stellar Population Synthesis at the End of 2010

Recent developments in stellar evolution theory describing critical phases of this process (e.g. TP-AGB), and the availability of new libraries of theoretical and empirical stellar spectra allow us to build more complete and realistic population synthesis models than those in common use. I will discuss the application of these models to various problems of interest and will review those aspects that still require some amount of theoretical and observational work in order to be included satisfactorily in the synthesis of stellar populations.
