En 2004, la misión Mars Express aportaba datos que apuntaban a la existencia de metano en el planeta rojo. Este compuesto, que en la Tierra se debe a procesos biológicos, abrió un nuevo campo de estudio y varias misiones han buscado y analizado la presencia de metano en el planeta rojo.

Este año 2019, la Unión Astronómica Internacional (IAU- https://www.iau.org/), el máximo organismo internacional en Astronomía, cumple 100 años. Por este motivo a lo largo del año se van a realizar toda una serie de eventos y actividades de divulgación astronómica. En el IAA tendrá lugar una jornada de puertas abiertas el próximo 11 de enero
