New Instrumentation and Legacy Projects for Calar Alto

A workshop at the IAA to open the debate on future projects for the Calar Alto Observatory

10/10/2016

Calar Alto Observatory constitutes an astronomical reference for the international scientific community for the quality of its telescopes and astronomical instrumentation.

Over recent years the observatory has launched new instruments, CARMENES and PANIC, has signed an agreement with the European Space Agency to search for NEOs (comets or asteroids whose orbits lead them to regions near Earth's orbit) and it has completed major projects such as CALIFA or ALHAMBRA legacy surveys.

The observatory is now facing an important stage in which future projects and instrumenos will be selected. And this meeting will be the starting point to discuss what projects are optimal for the observatory.

The meeting will take place at the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC) and is open to the Spanish and international scientific community. You may find more information in the website of the New Instrumentation and Legacy Projects for Calar Alto meeting. The sessions will be broadcasted online at the IAA Youtube channel.
