The requirement for more robust statistical tools is becoming increasingly higher owing to the demands of various large programmes and the technological advancement producing high-sensitive observations across the electromagnetic spectrum. Among the many existing analyses, the ones working on the time-series as set by the monitoring projects using single-dish/optical telescopes and those of spectral-line observations as rendered by ALMA/IFUs are the subject of the discussion here. The presentation sheds light on various procedures and fallacies encountered in practice while providing insight into new techniques
