Abstract:
Optical observations performed with the William Herschel Telescope did not reveal any object with R>24.5 inside the small X-ray error box determined by ROSAT (Greiner et al. 1997). On the other hand, an X-ray spectrum taken with ASCA revealed an emission line which could be attributed to the redshifted Fe I line at 6.4 keV (Yoshida 1999). Both facts impose severe limits to the luminosity of the host galaxy. Thus, we conclude that the host galaxy of GRB 970828 must be fainter than MR=-20.28, resembling the one related to GRB 970508. .
